Cherry Blossoms in Korea, 2015

We scheduled my mum's trip so that we can see cherry blossoms all around Korea, particularly during the Cherry Blossom Festival in Jeju. In this post, I'd like to show you the best photos from those I took of the cherry trees during our trip, as well as tips for locations where I thought the view was particularly beautiful.

Jeju
The Cherry Blossom Festival takes place around the Sports Complex (about 30 min from the airport), and it seems to be the most popular chery blossoms related event in Jeju-si. The place was crowded with couples and families, who were taking photos with the cherry blossoms and other blooming plants, and enjoying gazillions of street snacks from the million and one stalls scattered aroud the stadium. There are so many trees in that area that even though it's crowded, you can find a calm spot to have a picnic or take your own pictures and selca.

There is a big park and cultural/sports area located on the northern side of Donggwangro, before it crosses Garyeongro (search for 제주특별자치도문예회관 on naver maps). If you walk around that area and cross the bridge leading to Samsunghyeol, you will see many pretty sights with cherry blossoms too.

Yongyeongegok (용연) is another beautiful place to take a stroll, it is near the Dragon Rock area.

And of course, the Cherry Blossom Street is the perfect venue to go watch cherry blossoms, especially at night, because there are colorful lights and lanterns all along the long road.

Busan
Dalmaji-gil is considered one of the top cherry blossom viewing spots in the city - it is a very long road along the coast, so if the weather is clear, you can see cherry blossoms and sea at the same time!

Gyeongju
Both monuments and cherry blossoms are everywhere in this area, so no matter where you go, there will be beautiful sceneries including both.

Seoul
In Seoul, I have only seen the early cherry blossoms (and other trees/flowers) around Bukchon and the palaces.

  1. Wow this is so stunning. I absolutely love cherry blossoms. I have some outside of my house during the spring time but unfortunately they only last for a few weeks.

  3. Wow, to je naprosto kouzelné. :) Můj sen je kromě návštěvy Japonska a Korei taky mít zahradu s okrasnou sakurou.. je to prostě jedna z těch nejkrásnějších věcí, když kvetou i když potom padá růžový "sníh". Akorát přítel mé nadšení nesdílí kvůli tomu binci, co po nich potom je. :D
