This idea is neither original nor new. But I thought that usually, these decorative cupcake cups are sold for pretty high amounts of money (at least those I've seen in Germany), so I thought I'd show you how I made them with a bit of time and patience for a couple of cents. Especially since long time no tutorial.
This is gonna sound kinda weird, but just take a baked cupcake and slowly roll it on the paper and make pen marks following the trajectory. Then cut the shape out, measure around the cupcake and cut an opening on one side, while on the other you need to make a bit of a sack-like shape. When you have the perfectly-fitting cup, use it as a stencil.
Thanks to that, you'll be able to close them around the cupcakes without using any glue or scotch tape.
You could simply make them from a pretty paper, or cut the edges with decorative scissors... I opted for sewing on bows and lace. Yes, sewing, because I didn't want to put any pins or glue near something edible.
For transport, take plastic cups with a corresponding diameter and cut the bottom parts off. Then use them to cover the individual cupcakes while you place them in a box. Well this idea is pretty cool, right? It took me some time before it occured to me I could use cup remnants for preventing the cupcakes from falling over and touching.
Unfortunately, before I finished taking pics, the cream started to run terribly because I left the box on the window >.<
